Hello There! (Great Bullwinkle, wouldn't you say?) I've been doing voices (mostly cartoon style as well as accents, etc.) for years never really paying attention to what I was doing (I was attacked by Shaggy at Universal Studios for doing a better him). Now that I've been really concentrating on it, I decided to move from Ft. Lauderdale, FL and head where the big boys play... IDAHO. But seriously, I am looking for representation and I'd like to know how and where to look. How do I make a demo, how do I find an agent, how do I audition, etc.? I do live in South East Idaho so I need all the help I can get...on many different levels. Thanks.

Re: Help A New Talent Out...Would Ya?
Mon, March 10, 2008 - 8:26 AMAt this point, you need to be in LA or at least in NYC. However, the industry will probably be shifting over the next five-ish years to where more of the work can be piped in. I would recommend getting some training in LA, including on the marketing aspect. Check out bobbergen.com; he is awesome and if you can get an opportunity to work with him, do so. You will learn so much about the skill AND about the business.

Re: Help A New Talent Out...Would Ya?
Mon, March 10, 2008 - 12:51 PMMost VO coaches will coach by phone these days, so remote VO training isn't out of the question. I know Nancy Wolfson and Bob Bergen both do. The only coach I know of "near" Idaho is Deb Munro in Vancouver, BC.
There are a couple of good ways to get plugged into the community online. One is vo-bb.com, which is rather informal, but a quite a few "heavies" hang out there. Another great way to connect would be to go to VOICE 2008 in August.
