Need Help on what to put on demo CD Now!

topic posted Wed, June 15, 2005 - 1:56 PM by  Jimmy
Hello, out there. I've done some voice acting and have the recording gear. What I need help with is what should I record on the demo CD for submissions for acting jobs. Also what should the demo package have and not have. I need to know as much info right away as I have a chance for some jobs now!
Thanks in advance.

Well, I've only ever recorded my commercial demo, but that's something to think about. Is this meant to get you commercial work? Animation? Promos? People tend to either have demos for each or else 1 CD with several tracks.

Also, I have no idea what your mad recording studio (i.e. behnd the board) skills are, but if a Demo doesn't grab the listener in the first second or two, (yes, 1 or 2 seconds is all it takes), it gets shut off. So if this is going to be your audio resume, it needs to be quality.

I HIGHLY recommend that you go to www.voicebank.net/, click on House Reels and take a listen to some of the Demos there that are in the same style you are going for. That will give you an idea of what's out there, and a lot of the big name Pros have their Demos posted there. That should give you a pretty good place to start.
